MediCaine
EliteLidocaine 30% / tetracaine 7% cream or ointment
Maximum-strength Lidocaine and Tetracaine in a streamlined two-agent formula. When you need deep, sustained numbing without the complexity — Elite delivers.
Deep penetration
MediCaine Elite concentrates on what matters most — depth and duration. With Lidocaine at a full 30% and Tetracaine at 7%, this two-agent powerhouse delivers the highest individual concentrations of any MediCaine formulation. Fewer agents, maximum potency per agent.
How it works
Lidocaine at 30% reaches deeper tissue layers through tissue layers. Tetracaine extends the anesthetic window well beyond what Lidocaine alone can achieve. The streamlined formula means fewer potential sensitivities while maximizing the two most proven topical anesthetics.
Best for
- Deep laser resurfacing
- Procedures requiring sustained numbing
- Patients sensitive to Benzocaine
- Chemical peels and dermabrasion
- Providers who prefer a simpler formula

MediCaine Elite at a glance
Elite is a high-concentration lidocaine/tetracaine (LT) compound in the same family as the widely used 23/7 formula, with a higher lidocaine load and no benzocaine. Practices pick it for patients with a benzocaine sensitivity and for laser work where an ester-light formula is preferred.

Application by procedure
Laser hair removal
20 to 30 minutes per section. Treat large areas in segments rather than covering the whole zone at once.
Waxing and electrolysis
20 to 30 minutes on intact skin. Wipe clean and dry before waxing so the strip adheres.
Neurotoxin and filler
20 minutes, thin layer, no occlusion needed for most facial work.
Benzocaine-sensitive patients
Elite is the default here. Patch test on new patients if your protocol calls for it.
Starting points only. Dwell times and amounts are set by the supervising provider. More detail in the dwell time guide and how to use.
Safety
Use the smallest amount and area that does the job, and remove the product completely before the procedure. Systemic absorption rises with large surface areas, occlusion, heat and broken skin. The FDA has warned about serious reactions when compounded topical anesthetics were applied over large areas under wrap. Benzocaine and prilocaine are associated with methemoglobinemia. Screen patients for allergies to local anesthetics, G6PD deficiency, pregnancy and relevant cardiac history, and follow your supervising provider's protocol. This product is dispensed to licensed providers for use under their clinical judgment.
Frequently asked
Is Elite the same as 23/7 numbing cream?
It belongs to the same lidocaine/tetracaine family. Elite uses lidocaine 30% and tetracaine 7%, so the lidocaine load is higher than a 23/7 compound, and it contains no benzocaine.
Why choose a benzocaine-free numbing cream?
Some patients are sensitive to ester anesthetics like benzocaine. Elite removes benzocaine entirely while keeping a strong lidocaine/tetracaine profile.
How much does MediCaine Elite cost?
Elite runs $80 for 30 g up to $220 for 200 g, and $290 for the 454 g jar, shipping included.
Who can buy MediCaine Elite?
Licensed providers only. Your NPI and state license are verified by a pharmacist before the order ships.
Elite or Pro?
Pro (BLT) gives the fastest surface onset. Elite is the better fit for benzocaine-sensitive patients and many laser protocols. The Pro vs Elite vs Ultra page breaks it down by procedure.
