The standard BLT formulation

MediCaine Pro is our flagship triple-agent BLT formulation — the most widely used compound numbing formula in medical aesthetics and dermatology. Three anesthetic agents act on nerve conduction with complementary onset and duration, giving a fast, predictable effect for most aesthetic procedures.

How it works

Benzocaine provides immediate surface-level relief on contact. Lidocaine penetrates deeper tissue layers for sustained numbness. Tetracaine extends the anesthetic window with its long half-life. Phenylephrine constricts blood vessels to reduce bleeding and keep the agents localized longer.

  • Botox and filler injections

Application by procedure

Neurotoxin and filler (face)

Thin, even layer. 15 to 20 minutes, usually without occlusion. Remove fully and prep with your antiseptic before injecting.

Microneedling and RF microneedling

20 to 30 minutes. Light occlusion with film helps on deeper passes. Remove completely before needling.

Laser hair removal and IPL

20 to 30 minutes on small to mid areas. Limit total surface area on large zones and treat in sections.

Tattoo, PMU, laser tattoo removal

20 to 30 minutes on intact skin, under the supervising provider's protocol.

Starting points only. Dwell times and amounts are set by the supervising provider. More detail in the dwell time guide and how to use.

Safety

Use the smallest amount and area that does the job, and remove the product completely before the procedure. Systemic absorption rises with large surface areas, occlusion, heat and broken skin. The FDA has warned about serious reactions when compounded topical anesthetics were applied over large areas under wrap. Benzocaine and prilocaine are associated with methemoglobinemia. Screen patients for allergies to local anesthetics, G6PD deficiency, pregnancy and relevant cardiac history, and follow your supervising provider's protocol. This product is dispensed to licensed providers for use under their clinical judgment.

Frequently asked

What does BLT 20/10/10 mean?

It is the percentage of each anesthetic: benzocaine 20%, lidocaine 10% and tetracaine 10%. MediCaine Pro also adds phenylephrine 0.5% as a vasoconstrictor to keep the anesthetic local.

Is MediCaine Pro a cream or an ointment?

Both. You choose cream (lighter, rubs in fast) or ointment (heavier, better for longer dwell or occlusion), in an airless pump or a jar.

How much does BLT numbing cream cost?

Pro runs $80 for 30 g up to $220 for 200 g, and $275 for the 454 g professional jar, shipping included. The jar works out to about $0.61 per gram, which is the best value for busy treatment rooms.

Who can buy MediCaine Pro?

Licensed providers only. We ask for your NPI and state license at checkout, and a pharmacist verifies them before anything ships.

Pro or Ultra?

Pro covers most aesthetic procedures. Choose Ultra for deeper or longer work such as lip augmentation, thread lifts or extended laser sessions. See the Pro vs Elite vs Ultra comparison for a procedure-by-procedure guide.
